Cookie Policy
Effective October 23, 2026
1. The short version
This website sets cookies only if you let it count visits. A small banner asks first, with Decline and Accept side by side. Decline, and nothing from Google is loaded and no cookie is set. Accept, and Google Analytics sets the cookies in section 2. There is no advertising, no tracking pixel and no other third-party script, font or embed: everything else the site loads comes from this website itself.
2. Analytics cookies, only if you accept
With your consent, Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, counts visits and shows us which pages people read, and a few clicks, such as which system and version is downloaded (nothing that says who you are). It sets these cookies:
_ga: tells visits from the same browser apart. Kept up to 2 years._ga_<id>: keeps the state of your current visit. Kept up to 2 years.
Until you accept, no Google script is loaded and no analytics cookie is set: Google's consent mode starts with everything denied, and advertising stays denied whatever you choose. What Google Analytics collects, who receives it and how long it is kept are in the Privacy Policy (section 10).
3. What is kept in your browser, not as cookies
- Your consent choice, under the name
capy-consent, for 6 months, so we don't ask on every visit. - Your theme, under the name
capy-theme, only if you pick light, dark or system with the switch on the page.
Both stay in your browser's local storage, hold nothing about you, and are never sent to us or to anyone else. You can remove them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser's settings.
4. Changing your mind
Open Cookie settings, at the bottom of any page, to accept or decline. If you withdraw consent, we stop loading Google Analytics and delete the _ga cookies we can from your browser. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser's settings.
5. The Capy app
The Capy desktop app doesn't use cookies. It talks only to other peers, except to fetch the page of a link you type, for its preview, which you can turn off. A link you click in a message opens in your own web browser, with that browser's cookies, as from any other app. The Privacy Policy explains what the app keeps on your device.
6. Server logs
The servers that host this website may keep standard access logs, such as IP address, browser and pages requested, for security and reliability. These logs are not cookies, and this website doesn't use them to track you across sites.
7. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
